Cryotherapy 101

Posted on Posted in wellness

Cryotherapy offers  a convenient therapy with many  benefits. Basically, you enter the chamber and are surrounded by a  flow of hyper-cooled air that penetrates the outermost layer of the skin. Cyotherapy aims to improve overall health and wellness and to have a positive impact on areas of acute and chronic issues.

There are three phases a person experiences with a Cryotherapy session. First, the release phase makes you experience a short session at -240* Fahrenheit, during which blood vessels constrict, forcing blood flow to the body’s core. In the core, the body’s natural filtration system works to remove toxins and inflammatory properties of the blood. Second, the rejuvenation phase allows you to exit the chamber. This is when the filtered blood flows back to the peripheral tissues enriched with oxygen, nutrients, and enzymes. The blood recirculates, warming and enriching the skin and muscles and improving joint mobility. Third, the recharge phase begins the process of restoration which occurs over the next 48 hours. This is when the body returns to a former and better state with reduced pain and inflammation and increased energy levels. Recovery times from strenuous workouts, injury, surgery, or conditions caused by illness are improved.

Cryotherapy is popular among athletes, as it improves performance, relieves inflammation, and shortens the time between workouts by accelerating the recovery process. In stimulating the immune and endocrine systems, the treatment increases endorphins and provides hours of relief from the pain and exhaustion of a hard workout. The resulting anti-inflammatory effects allow athletes to train harder and more frequently, which logically improves performance.

Health and Wellness

The mind-body connection is reinvigorated, recharged, and ready for anything! Cryotherapy chambers trigger endorphins, increase blood flow, and decrease muscle inflammation and swelling. Clients even burn 500 to 800 calories during and after therapy as the body warms and returns to normal body temperature. The result is repaired muscles, joints, tendons, and ligaments, leaving clients feeling happy and energized.

  • Perform better: Research has shown that Cryotherpy triggers endorphins and increases your blood flow, which we believe helps you to train harder.  Try it before a workout and find out yourself.
  • Recover faster: Even a single Cryotherapy session significantly decreases muscle inflammation and swelling and mends damaged muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments.
  • Burn calories: Research suggests you’ll burn 500-800 calories during and after Cryotherapy as your body works to warm  back up.
